Perma-Roof FAQs

The questions below are ones we most commonly receive about PERMA-ROOF and the roof-over process. If you have further questions, contact us today and a friendly staff member will be glad to assist you.
How is the PERMA-ROOF attached to my roof?
PERMA-ROOF is attached using a specially designed perimeter bracket that bolts directly onto the roofline of your existing mobile home, creating a solid frame for the other materials to attach to.
What is roof-rumble, and will the PERMA-ROOF stop it?
Roof-rumble happens when strong winds and rains hit the roof. PERMA-ROOF puts an end to this.
Why do you use 29-gauge steel?
Steel is much stronger than rubber or aluminum. Our 29-gauge steel has a Class 4 U.L. impact ratio. Through the years we have replaced thousands of competitor roofs. Perma-Roof 29-gauge has stood the test of time.
What does my warranty cover?
Southern Builders’ lifetime warranty guarantees no leaks due to faulty materials or workmanship, regardless of the gauge of steel and the style of your mobile home, for as long as you own it.
How long does it take to attach the roof?
One day, in most cases. For some double-wide mobile homes and if extra elements such as patio covers are being installed, a second day may be required.
Do you provide overhangs with the PERMA-ROOF?
Yes. Every PERMA-ROOF comes with approximately one-foot overhangs on the long sides of your mobile home and six-inch overhangs on the short sides.
Can I walk on my PERMA-ROOF?
Yes. Your roof is safe to walk on when you need to service a water cooler or for any other reason. In fact, the PERMA-ROOF is so strong, it would take quite an effort on your part to damage it in any way.
